Descol celebrates 45th anniversary
To celebrate the success of Descol, a company outing for all ‘team members’ was held November 5, 2010.
Founded in 1965, developing epoxies for applications in the construction business, Descol has become the number one in sports flooring. More than 85 people work on the development, production, sale and application of Descol's multifunctional polyurethane sports floors and all these departments operate under one roof. An efficient organization that distributes all products and services through a well organized team.
Where all of Descol’s employees have something to do with floors every workday, many of them see the end results rarely in use and therefore this special day was subjected to three special projects.
The first project visited was ‘Voordewind Sportshall’ near Amsterdam, where a Descol Comfort Court was installed: an outdoor sports floor which can be used throughout the year. The personnel got a presentation by the government official of Diemen municipality, about the choice for the Comfort Court and the special qualities this outdoor floor has. At that time no teams were training outside so all employees could enjoy the floor from nearby.
The second location was the Ronald McDonald Centre in Amsterdam. This innovative sports centre for children with disabilities was officially opened November 8, 2010. At this centre, a presentation was given about the first sport hall in the world were LED lining is applied, and Olympic champion Maarten van der Weijden spoke some motivating words on how to reach the top, as a sportsman but also as a company. The journey continued to Omnisport, a multifunctional sports complex in the east of Holland, where many professional athletes can play sports on Descol’s top floors. Everyone had a chance to look at the large hall where a Pulastic Elite floor was installed and the Pulastic SP running track which was built around the sports hall.
The day ended with a nice dinner, where managing director Remo van der Wilt presented a remarkable photo book from National Geographic to all employees. He highlighted the importance of a sustainable business, to ensure also future generations can continue to enjoy the beautiful nature just like us. With this approach, Descol trusts to remain market leader and we look forward to to install more beautiful sports floors worldwide!
