Opening Ronald McDonald Centre, Amsterdam
On November 8 Dutch princess Marilène opened, along with sports legend Marco van Basten and politician Ed Nijpels, the Ronald McDonald Centre in Amsterdam North. This is the first sports centre in Western Europe for children and young people with a disability or chronic illness. The opening was hosted by two famous Dutch TV presenters: Lucille Werner, the ambassador of the Ronald McDonald Centre and Jochem van Gelder, ambassador for the Ronald McDonald House.

Nomination "Gouden Piramide" award
The "Gouden Piramide" (Golden Piramid) is a state prize awarded each year for excellence in commissioning work in architecture, urban design, landscape architecture, infrastructure and physical planning.
Architect Peer Glandorff explains why the Ronald McDonald centre is worth the nomination (after 03:08 minutes, Dutch only). The video shows how all facilities connect and it gives a good impression of how the areas are characterized by colours: red floors in the sports canteen and office areas, green in the sports areas and blue colours for the pool and sanitairy areas.
