The start of Descol

B.V. Descol Kunststof Chemie was founded in November 1965 by two former Sikkens employees. In the beginning Descol was specialized in the production of a range of epoxy compounds for use in the building industry.

Soon, the management saw enormous potential in the field of 2 component polyurethane compounds, mainly adapted in the field of seamless chemical resistant industrial flooring. Accordingly in house research and development was executed. Also the management soon realized that a successful operation with compounds could only be realised when also the application of these materials was under control, which in fact Descol started to do.

At that time there was no talk of similar applications based on polyurethane. The breakthrough came some five years later when Descol ascertained that a great future existed for polyurethane compounds in the sports flooring industry thanks to the benefit of retaining elasticity after curing. Descol started this development under the brand name Pulastic.

Installation department

In May 1976 the management decided to support and monitor the yearly growth of turnover at home and abroad by separating the installation department. Therefore Descol started a new company: B.V. DIAC (Descol International Application Centre), to handle this work. By doing so not only a better organization was attained but also Descol's vulnerability was decreased. The ISO-9001 certificate does also cover installation work. Nowadays DIAC has been integrated in the Descol organization as the application department.

ISO certification

Over the years the names of both Descol and Pulastic are well established thanks to the extremely reliable service and professionalism. In 1994 Descol was awarded for the quality Organization with the ISO-9001 certificate. Descol has a well-equipped research laboratory in which raw materials, semi-manufactured compounds and the final compositions are regularly checked and tested. In fact, conform the ISO-9001 standards every kilo of material which leaves the factory has passed all the relevant tests. Some years later, the environmental care system of Descol is accredited according to ISO 14001.
