100 Years Sika
In 2010, Sika celebrates its 100-year anniversary. Developing innovative products and solutions and being consistent towards all stakeholders have made it possible for Sika to grow throughout its first century. We are now present in over 70 countries, with over 15,000 employees.

The start of Sika
Kaspar Winkler invented the first Sika product in 1910. His first inventions were agents to protect and clean granite (Conservado, Purigo) and a mortar waterproofing agent called Sika. He had to wait several years for the breakthrough of his company, when Sika-1 was used to waterproof the Gotthard tunnel. In 1911 he entered his firm, Kaspar Winkler & Co., into the Commercial Register.
Economic Boom
After World War II, the economy worldwide boomed. Sika opened businesses around the globe in countries such as Sweden and Cuba.
New Market Industry
Sika's product range broadened over the years. A significant addition was Sikaflex. Based on this invention a whole new business - the Industry Division - was started.
Fast Growth
Almost every year a new local subsidiary was opened. With its global presence, Sika achieved incredible growth rates in recent years.
