Wooden sub floors

Descol's Elite; resilient sub floors from the Pulastic® range

All Pulastic point-elastic sports floors can be used on area-elastic wooden subfloors. This combined structure improves comfort and safety levels for users. Descol has applied its more than 45 years of experience with wooden subfloors in order to select a full range of subfloor structures that meet a wide range of requirements and needs. We have called this the Pulastic Elite product range. From this range, we have created a collection of popular combination structures. Ask Descol for an overview of the primary characteristics our Pulastic Elite designs.

Classic

Pulastic® Elite Classic

A design proven by decades of experience and millions of square meters installed. This structure is created entirely from plywood, to ensure maximum uniformity and quality. It has a minimum elevation of 68 mm and can be installed directly onto a concrete structural floor. During installation, the structure (standard up to 100 mm) is height-adjusted to achieve the required degree of levelness. In this type of structure, despite the use of plywood, the single top layer may show seams due to climatic fluctuations.

Advanced

Pulastic® Elite Advanced

Descol has optimised the traditional area-elastic subfloor. The Elite Advanced has a minimum elevation of only 59 mm and can be installed directly onto a concrete structural floor. Here too, levelling the structure up to 100 mm is standard. The fully bonded double top layer structure guarantees great uniformity and stability.

Comfort

Pulastic® Elite Comfort

Not only athletes who use the top sports hall at the Dutch National Sports Centre Papendal, but also many international users appreciate the high level of comfort offered by Pulastic Elite Comfort. This level of comfort is attributed in particular to the floor’s rapid response behaviour. The fully load-bearing and uniform structure guarantees the same feel and ball bouncing behaviour across the floor. With 48 mm, its elevation is small. The fully bonded plywood boards ensure maximum stability in fluctuating climatic conditions.

The standard structural floor needs to meet the same levelness requirements as the sports floor installed in accordance with EN 14904. It's possible, however, to first apply a layer of unbound minerals on the basic structural floor, complemented by blocks of insulation foam. This fully load-bearing structure and the great weight distribution properties of the Pulastic Elite Comfort allow the floor to be installed directly onto these insulation blocks.

Pulastic® Elite Performance

In collaboration with a foreign supplier of wooden basketball floors to 90% of all professional NBA teams – Descol has developed a subfloor with superior performance. The EPDM rubber pads with double-cone design and autostop feature, combined with 2 layers of fully bonded high-quality plywood, guarantee superior uniformity, ball bounce, load-bearing capabilities and stability. A sturdy design for heavy-duty use, ready to take on large basketball players and grandstands.

Indoor athletes, such as basketball/volleyball players and sports instructors praise the comfort and sports performance characteristics. With an elevation of only 35 mm, the floor can be used virtually anywhere, even in many retrofit situations. The subfloor must be flat and level, in accordance with the sports floor requirements specified in EN 14904.
