Descol winner of the Dutch Sports Innovation Award
The idea of “line marking for every wish and need” led to the first price winning innovation called Pulastic LED Court. The so called ‘Dutch Sports Innovation Award 2009’ was granted to Descol sport surfaces on October 13th 2009. The Descol team, Remo van der Wilt, Erroll Breukers, Jeroen Bontenbal, Arjen van Ree and Arjan van Bakel received this award from Mrs Erica Terpstra (chairman of the Dutch Olympic committee) during the Dutch ‘Sports, Science and Technology Congres 2009’ at the ‘Technical University’ in Eindhoven(NL).
The award is an initiative of the foundation: ‘Sports and Technology’ in Eindhoven (NL) and InnosportNL’. Goal of the foundation is to promote the cooperation between the worlds of sports, science and business.

Just switch on your playing court
For years the market expressed wishes to develop a solution for the maze of lines on sports floors. With Pulastic LED Court only one particular sports game is lightened; the other lines are not illuminated so the sports court is much more comfortable for your eyes. Another huge opportunity for Pulastic LED Court is application as a safety feature in buildings, indicating escape routes in case of emergency situations.
Pulastic LED Court makes it more easy for beginning sporters to learn a specific sport, it is more comfortable for the eyes and it enables professional sporters to develop playing skills. Another benefit of a visually less complicated game court is the television coverage. No longer a floor covering is required. Top-sport facilities now are able to supply more different sports at the same time on the same high-quality sports floor. Last but not least, the Pulastic LED Court facilitates a lot of possibilities for visual handicapped persons. Jeroen Bontenbal is one of the developers of the sports floor with integrated LED lights. A couple of years ago he started the development of this floor. Descol sports surfaces supports innovation and gives her employees the possibility to further develop innovations. The award is accompanied by € 5.000,-- prize money and Descol will spend this amount on the further development of this innovation project for a student or internship of a Technical University.
